Snore guard is a custom-made dental device worn at nightime to prevent snoring and sleep apnea.

The cause of these disorders is multi-factorial. A simple explanation is as follows.

During sleep the soft tissues (uvula and soft palate) and the muscles in the throat and mouth relax. The relaxation causes a decrease in the airway space. This minimized path for the passage of air through the decreased space causes vibration of the soft tissues, “noisy breathing”, which is referred to as snoring.

The snore guard appliance holds the lower jaw in a forward position. This position increases the space in the airway tube and prevents the soft tissue’s vibrations. The improved mechanics of breathing also allow for less fitful sleeping.
